Robbie Downing is an IT/telecoms partner in Baker & McKenzie’s London office. He began his career at Baker & McKenzie as an antitrust lawyer. In 1990, he joined IBM as an in-house lawyer and subsequently became a full-time lecturer at King’s College, London. Robbie returned to Baker & McKenzie in 1995, becoming a partner in 1998. He advises on IT/telecoms law and regulation, with a particular emphasis on antitrust and e-commerce, and is listed as a leading expert in his field in legal directories.
Robbie speaks and writes regularly on legal issues in information technology, telecoms, e-commerce and antitrust. He produced Baker & McKenzie’s CD-ROM on E-commerce in Europe. He edited the Baker & McKenzie Guide to Intellectual Property and the IT Industry published by Sweet and Maxwell in 1998, and his book EC Information Technology Law was published by Wiley in 1995. He was e-commerce consultant on the 6th Edition of Benjamin’s Sale of Goods.
Robbie has a first class law degree from Oxford University, and a Licence Spéciale in European Law from the University of Brussels.
